Life's Battles


In the battle of life, it is not the critic who counts, not the man who points out how the strong man stumbled or where the doer of deeds may have done better. The credit belongs to the man who is in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who errs and comes short again and again, for there is no effort without error and shortcoming, who, if he succeeds, knows the triumph of high achievement; but who, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid soles who know neither victory nor defeat.
